Calls on Implementation and Capacity Development activities

Call for phytosanitary technical resources related to e-Commerce, PRA and Pest Outbreak Alert and Response Systems that may be shared with the IPPC community

The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat is soliciting:

• Phytosanitary technical resources and case studies (e.g. manuals, standard operating procedures, advocacy materials, factsheets, infographics, training materials, risk assessments, guidelines, tools)

The IPPC Secretariat periodically issues calls for existing phytosanitary technical resources developed by NPPOs, RPPOs and other organizations that may be shared with the IPPC community. The submitted materials are reviewed by the Implementation and Capacity Development Committee (IC) against established criteria. Suitable materials are made available on the IPP as Contributed Resources (https://www.ippc.int/en/core-activities/capacity-development/guides-and-training-materials/contributed-resource-list/).

The aim of this call is to collect additional resources that may be shared among NPPOs and other stakeholders.

Deadline: Submissions are due 30 June 2020.

Call for case studies related to Pest Status determination

The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat is soliciting submissions of case studies to support implementation of ISPM 8: Determination of Pest Status and enhance the Pest Status Guide (2017-039), which is currently under development.

The objective of the Pest Status Guide is to provide general guidance to national plant protection organizations and to support the implementation of ISPM 8: Determination of pest status in an area (2009-05). Selected case studies will be included as appendices to the Guide.

Deadline: Submissions are due 29 March 2020.

Further details are available on the IPP at https://www.ippc.int/en/calls/call-for-case-studies-related-to-pest-status-determination/

Call for Pest Outbreak Alert from Contracting Parties

The IPPC Secretariat is currently involved globally in the prevention of Spodoptera frugiperda (Fall Armyworm) and of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense Tropical Race 4 (TR4) (Fusarium Wilt TR4) and these pests will be included in the IPPC programme on Strengthening Pest Outbreak Alert and Response Systems. Contracting Parties are therefore invited NOT to provide an update on these two pests but rather provide alerts on other pest outbreaks which could have regional impacts.

Please send your proposal to Sarah Brunel (sarah.brunel@fao.org) by the 6th of March 2020 (no proposal will be accepted after that date), with a one page summary addressing the points listed above in an FAO official language.

Further details are available on the IPP at https://www.ippc.int/en/calls/call-for-pest-outbreak-alert-from-contracting-parties/
