Strengthening of Cooperation between the IPPC and STDF

Mr Jingyuan Xia, the IPPC Secretary, had a meeting with Mr Melvin Spreij, the Secretary of the Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF) on 15 June 2016, at FAO-HQ in Rome, Italy. Mr Craig Fedchock (the IPPC Coordinator), Ms Sarah Brunel (the IPPC Implementation Officer) and Mr Marko Benovic (the IPPC Finance Officer), also attended the meeting. The main objective of the meeting was to discuss a number of topics related to projects funded by STDF, projects ongoing and potential next steps for moving forward in the relationship between the two organizations.

Capacity Development Committee Continues Progress to Strengthen Phytosanitary Systems

The IPPC’s Capacity Development Committee (CDC met 1-5 June 2015 in San Jose, Costa Rica. This was the sixth meeting of the CDC since it formed in 2012 to guide the IPPC’s Secretariat’s work to implement the Capacity Development Strategy and Work plan that the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures approved. The InterAmerican Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture hosted the meeting.

The IPPC exhibition "Pests without Borders"

The photo contest “Pests without Borders”, organized by the IPPC Secretariat and its Capacity Development Committee, with the financial support from the Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF), had the objective to raise public awareness on the protection of cultivated and wild plants by preventing the introduction and spread of pests.

CPM-10 also marked the inauguration of the IPPC exhibition “Pests without Borders”.

Call for nomination of members and potential alternate of the Capacity Development Committee (CDC)

The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat is soliciting nominations for appropriately qualified candidates to be members of the IPPC Capacity Development Committee (CDC). At its 7th Session (CPM-7, 2012) the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures agreed to create the IPPC CDC to provide oversight and contribute to the delivery of the IPPC Strategic Objective of developing National Phytosanitary Capacity of its members. Members serve for terms of two years, with a maximum of six years. Photo: Simon Griffee The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) will hold the initial meeting of the IPPC Capacity Development Committee (CDC) from 03-07 December 2012, hosted by the Italian Rural Development Directorate at the Ministry of Agriculture in Rome.
