Two new Diagnostic Protocols (DPs) on Ditylenchus destructor and Ditylenchus dipsaci, and Genus Anastrepha Schiner - DP 8 and DP 9, respectively – were adopted by the Standards Committee on behalf of the CPM as Annexes to ISPM 27 (Diagnostic protocols for regulated pests). These two draft DPs were subject to the IPPC 45-days notification period, which closed on 15 August 2015.The complete list of all adopted DPs are on the IPP.

The Technical Panel on Diagnostic Protocols (TPDP) met in Shanghai, China, organized by the IPPC Secretariat and hosted by the NPPO of China. The TPDP reviewed their work programme which includes 27 diagnostic protocols (DPs); most of these will be submitted for adoption within the next 3-4 years. This means an enormous workload for all involved.
Five draft DPs were thoroughly discussed, including consideration of the comments received from the expert consultations held in 2015, and will be forwarded to the Standards Committee. The Notification period for the following draft diagnostic protocols (DPs) has started today.
Contracting parties have 45 days starting from 1 July to 15 August 2015 to review the approved DP and submit a formal objection, if any. The formal objection should be a technically supported objection to the adoption of the approved diagnostic protocol in its current form, sent through the official IPPC contact point.

The First Expert Consultation on draft Diagnostic Protocols in 2015 is now open on the on IPP for:
• Fusarium moniliformis / moniforme syn. F. circinatum (2006-021)
• Phytophthora ramorum (2004-013)
• Dendroctonus ponderosae syn. Scolytus scolytus (2006-019)
The closing date is 24 April 2015.

The Standards Committee (SC) on behalf of the CPM has adopted one new Diagnostic Protocol (DP): Annex to ISPM 27. (Diagnostic protocols for regulated pests): Potato spindle tuber viroid. Up to now, seven diagnostic protocols were adopted by the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM). The draft diagnostic protocol (DP) was under the 45-days notification period, which closed on 30 January 2015.
