The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat is calling for the expression of interest by national plant protection organizations (NPPOs) wishing to share their experiences related to authorization of entities to perform phytosanitary actions. These stories and experiences would be posted in a paper as part of the side session that will convene as part of the fifteenth session of the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM-15) As you may know the CPM-15 is postponed to June 29- July 3 2020 due travel restrictions to Italy.

However the side session is still planned to take place at the margins of the CPM-15 on Enhancing the understanding of the concept on authorization of entities to perform phytosanitary actions.

This side session aims to provide a forum to present the concept of authorization, present case studies and demonstrate successes and challenges identified while authorizing entities. The side session will provide an opportunity for discussing concerns and positions ahead of the plenary discussion on considering how to move forward with the draft standard on authorization entities to perform phytosanitary actions (please refer to paper CPM 2020/20).

The NPPOs who wish to report on their challenges and successes including specific country case studies and different approaches are invited to submit their one-page summary to Janka KISS ([email protected]) by 13 of March (extended until the 27 March) with the following information:

  • Title
  • Successes and/or challenges
  • Solutions
  • Expected results

Submissions will be evaluated by the organizers and some cases will be selected. Selected NPPOs will be contacted and provided with the opportunity to share information (max 3-4 minutes) during the side session.

Don’t miss this opportunity to share your countries experience.

The extended deadline: 27 March 2020.
