Breve descripción

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is the public administration body in charge of policy making and adoption of regulations in the plant health field.

The Phytosanitary Directorate was established in 2008, as the single authority responsible for plant health, according to Article 5 of the Law on plant health protection and started to work in 2009. In 2015. establishing of the new administration: Administration for Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Affairs.

Establishing this new Administration will put in place a more efficient system with clearly defined competencies and responsibilities, simplification of the chain of command, better coordination and communication and facilitation of the training of employees.

The Phytosanitary Sector is a part of Administration for Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Affairs in, and is a public administration body in charge of the direct implementation of regulations and administrative and other professional activities and is in charge of co-ordination and contacts related to phytosanitary field.

Phytosanitary Inspection is the part of the Administration.

Phytosanitary inspection performs inspection supervision over the implementation of the Law on Plant Health.
