Thank you for participating in the webinar “Promoting safe trade during the International Year of Plant Health”!
The webinar was hosted as a side event during the SPS Committee meeting on Tuesday, 23 March 2021 from 13.30 to 14.30 PM (CET).
Ensuring the safe trade of plants and plant products is essential to prevent the spread of plant pests and diseases, and protect plant health and agriculture worldwide. The International Year of Plant Health (IYPH) was established to help promote the importance of plant health and the safe trade of plants and plant products. Raising the profile of plant health will help gain support for organizations whose mandate is to ensure global, regional and national plant based resources are protected. The World Trade Organization will provide the context of the importance of safe traded plant and plant products. The remaining panellists will provide an overview of what has been done to promote plant health in IYPH, upcoming events and the legacy of these efforts from a global, regional and industry perspective.
