Elsinoe australis - (ELSIAU)
Jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis)
Present: only in some areas
New South Wales and Queensland
In 2005, a black scab of jojoba was seen in jojoba plantations in New South Wales and Queensland. Black scab lesions were detected on leaves and stems.
Identification of the cause was undertaken and it has been determined that it is a new distinct pathotype, separate from other Elsinoe species found in Australia.Further work is ongoing to define host range and pathogenicity.
A new pathotype of E. australis has been detected on jojoba. It has not been found on sweet oranges in Australia.
