AnFBV was discovered on aysmptomatic verbena plant material derived from imported tissue culture using a new diagnostic test in December 2008. All plants that tested positive were symptomless. All plants in the consignment have been destroyed.

Danger
AnFBV is a carmovirus and is likely to be readily transmitted by touch. The virus is known to cause flower break symptoms on Angelonias and in this case no symptoms were noted on Verbenas. Other known hosts are Angelonia spp and Phlox spp.
