Save the date: Launch of Africa Phytosanitary Programme (APP) Phase 3

The IPPC Secretariat is pleased to announce that Phase 3 of the Africa Phytosanitary Programme (APP) will be launched with a Train-the-trainer workshop, scheduled for 7-10 July 2026 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This milestone reflects the programme's continued expansion and growing impact across the continent, equipping countries with digital tools, harmonised pest survey protocols and skills to modernise pest surveillance. Hosted by the Government of Ethiopia, through the Ethiopian Agricultural Agency —the country’s national plant protection organization— the workshop will bring together over 90 plant health specialists from 18 countries that formally expressed interest in joining APP Phase 3. Also attending the workshop are observers from Yemen and representatives from selected countries already implementing APP, who will share insights and experiences. Find more information here.
