CPM-18 Side session on Banana TR4

Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cubense Tropical Race 4 (TR4) is a significant threat to global banana production. During this side session on Fusarium TR4, national plant protection organizations (NPPOs) share their experiences in responding to Fusarium TR4 outbreak in their countries. The objective of this session was to share lessons on the importance of early-warning systems, detection, and management of Fusarium TR4 outbreaks. In this session, national plant protection organizations (NPPOs) of countries where Fusarium TR4 has not been detected share their experiences in undertaking preparatory simulation exercises to prevent and prepare to respond to Fusarium TR4 outbreaks in their countries. This discussion revolves around what aspects of the emergency response were covered during the simulation exercise and how this helped prepare for a real pest emergency response.
