Краткое описание

A delimiting survey in Western Australia has determined that rice blast is only present in the isolated Ord River Irrigation Area (ORIA). Quarantine measures have been imposed on all ORIA rice growing properties to prevent the movement of rice plant material, machinery and equipment associated with rice crops.

Опасность
Rice blast, caused by Magnaporthe grisea, is generally considered an important disease of rice worldwide because of its extensive distribution and destructiveness under favourable conditions. Rice blast is not present in the New South Wales Riverina region where 99% of Australian rice is grown and strict quarantine regulations are in place to prevent the entry of diseases. This outbreak in northern Western Australia is not likely to pose a threat to the Riverina rice growing region as it is nearly 3000 km away.
