Краткое описание

The black parlatoria scale, Parlatoria ziziphi, is considered to be absent from Australia although there are previous reports of its presence in the Darwin area of the Northern Territory in 1914 and 1915. During a search of the National Australian Plant Pest Database only five samples from Australia of this species were found; three samples from Darwin and two other collections from interceptions at the international quarantine border in Sydney, New South Wales. It is probable that the scale was incidentally wiped out during an eradication program for citrus canker, which removed all known citrus plants in the Northern Territory above latitude 19°S between 1916 and 1922. Intensive plant pest surveillance activities over the past 20 years, which included specific surveys for P. ziziphi, have not detected this pest species in the Darwin area or any other region of Australia.
