Краткое описание

This species has been known mainly from a wide range of the Southeast and Southwest Asia countries. The spider mite was detected on citrus during surveys in the Northern Territory and further targeted surveys there and in Western Australia. Symptoms have been found in Queensland. Based on this and a review of mite collections, it is likely that Schizotetranychus baltazari is widespread in northern Australia.

Опасность
The damage caused by Schizotetranychus mites is typical of that caused by tetranychid mites. The mite infests leaves and fruit of citrus producing discoloured or grey spots on both sides of the leaves and the fruit. It appears to be of little economic importance and is effectively managed through good agricultural practice. The pest has not been reported in southern citrus production areas of Australia.
