Detected on cassava (Manihot esculenta). Cassava is the main host of SLCMV though non-cassava hosts infected experimentally include a wide range of species in the Solanaceae family (CABI 2022, Jackson 2022, Jose et al. 2008).

Краткое описание

In September 2022, a detection of Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus (SLCMV) was confirmed from cassava plants in a community garden in Darwin, Northern Territory. The SLCMV was causing symptoms of yellowing mosaic patches and distortion of cassava leaves. SLCMV is spread by whitefly (Bemisia tabaci species complex) and movement of infected planting material.

Опасность

Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus is part of the Cassava mosaic disease (CMD) complex which is one of the world’s most significant cassava diseases. This is the first report of SLCMV outside of Asia (Vala et al. 2024).
