Posted on Mon, 07 Sep 2020, 06:50

Deadline on Thu, 01 Oct 2020, 21:55

The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat is calling for:

Purpose

FAO and the IPPC Secretariat have established, as part of the Fall Armyworm Global Action, a Technical Working Group (TWG) on “Quarantine and Phytosanitary in relation to Trade”. One of the first activities of this TWG will be to draft guidelines on preventive measures.

Technical resources that provide information on FAW will be used to help support the development of guidelines to help prevent the introduction and spread of Fall Armyworm. Technical resources, related to Fall Armyworm are needed on:

In addition, the submitted materials may be reviewed by the Implementation and Capacity Development Committee (IC) against established criteria which help ensure they are assisting with the implementation of core IPPC provisions (obligations, rights and responsibilities) and International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs) and potentially globally applicable. Materials approved by the IC may be posted on the International Phytosanitary Portal (IPP) as Contributed Resources (https://www.ippc.int/en/core-activities/capacity-development/guides-and-training-materials/contributed-resource-list/).

How do I submit resources?

If you have technical resources that you think would be suitable for the above purposes, please e-mail them to us at [email protected] (with “FAW technical resources- COUNTRY NAME” in the subject line) accompanied by a completed submission form (https://www.ippc.int/en/publications/88267/).

It is preferred if the technical resources are provided via a web link to the information, however, if it is not posted on the internet, the resources may be provided by files (pdf, MS Power Point, MS Word etc.), and in these cases an FAO permission request form (http://www.ippc.int/en/publications/88268/) must also be completed and submitted along with the material. This gives FAO a non-exclusive license to publish the resources in the FAO Document Repository (http://www.fao.org/documents) and facilitates the sharing of this information by the IPPC Secretariat on the IPP as Contributed Resources.

Languages

Please, note that the phytosanitary technical resources can be contributed in any language. However, please ensure that the title and a summary or description of the content of each resource is translated into one of the official FAO languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish) and in English if possible.

Resources that are submitted in an FAO language will be prioritized for IC review.

Deadline:

Submissions are due 1st October 2020.

Please note that submitted resources will be reviewed by the IC according to established criteria and may not be posted on the IPP.

Please contact the IPPC Secretariat ([email protected]) for more information.
