In 2017 a preliminary surveillance conducted by Zambia Agriculture Research Institute (ZARI) confirmed presence of Cassava Brown Streak Disease (CBSD) in Kaputa District of the Northern and Chienge District of the Luapula Provinces of Zambia bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)

Poses decline of cassava production among small scale farmers. Phytosanitary measures being strengthened, control the movement of cassava cutting from infested areas
