Standards Committee meets to review draft standards and specifications this month

The Standards Committee (SC) is gathering from 8 to 12 May at FAO headquarters in Rome to revise the following draft ISPMs:

  • Reorganization and revision of pest risk analysis standards;
  • Draft Annex International Movement of Mango (Mangifera indica) Fruit to ISPM 46 (Commodity-specific standards for phytosanitary measures);
  • 2023 Draft Amendments to ISPM 5 (Glossary of phytosanitary terms);
  • Draft Annex Design and use of systems approaches for phytosanitary certification of seeds to ISPM 38 (International movement of seeds);
  • Draft Annex Use of systems approaches in managing the pest risks associated with the movement of wood to ISPM 39 (International movement of wood); and
  • Revision of ISPM 4 (Requirements for the establishment of pest free areas).

The SC will review the List of Topics for IPPC standards adopted by the CPM-17 in March 2023 and will discuss CPM-17 outcomes relevant to the SC, the updates received by the four Technical Panels as well as the summary of decisions, polls, and forums on the Online Comment System (OCS) from November 2022 to May 2023.

The SC will also consider the drafting of recommendations to CPM Bureau, SPG, or CPM-18

The report on the concluded SC meeting will be published on the International Phytosanitary Portal eight weeks after the meeting.
