IPPC participated in a workshop organized by the Standard and Trade Development Facility ( STDF), the IPPC and the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), 12 and 13 July 2012. Three IPPC Secretariat staff members intervened in the meeting, to underline what has been done in invasive alien species management. What emerged is the importance of the link between international trade and IAS.

During the week of July 17-20, the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat participated in the joint IPPC/FAO/EPPO regional workshop for the review of draft International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs) in Bykovo, Russia. The workshop was graciously hosted by the All-Russian Plant Quarantine Center (VNIIKR) and included participants from twenty countries. For the first time, participants in the workshop included personnel representing the national plant protection organizations of Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland and Macedonia.

The Mid-Year Review Meeting of the STDF–funded project, ‘Beyond Compliance: Integrated systems approach for pest risks management in Southeast Asia, was held in the Fortuna Hotel, Hanoi, Vietnam, from the 16 to 19th July 2012. The project was officially launched by Dr. Hoang Trung, the Deputy Director General of the Plant Protection Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural development (MARD), Vietnam.
A total of 21 participants attended the meeting. The countries were represented by senior staffs of the National Plant Protection Organizations (NPPOs) of Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. Key project partners and Associates from Imperial College London ...
Nominations are being solicited by the Secretariat of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) for authors of two IPPC diagnostic protocols, for Ips spp. and Dendroctonus ponderosae.
Nominations are due 1 November 2012.

The IPPC Secretarit would like to remind contracting parties that the dates for the annual meeting of the Commission for Phytosanitary Measures (CPM) are a few weeks later than the "traditional" March time slot due to clashes with other FAO meetings. Therefore, 08 - 12 APRIL 2013 are the dates for CPM-8, instead of 18-22 March 2013 as tentatively announced in CPM7.
Please note the due date for treatment submissions has been extended to 30 September 2012.
