The East Africa Grain Council and International Grain Trade Coalition is hosting the 7th African Grain Trade Summit (AGTS) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from 5-7 October 2017. The AGTS is a biennial high-level, internationally-recognized grain industry conference that brings together important state and non-state grain sector stakeholders from across the African continent and beyond for discussions about key issues and emerging trends in the grain sector on the continent. During the Summit the hosts will also hold a short session on ePhyto. More information may be found at the AGTS website.
The Regional International Organization for Plant Protection and Animal Health (OIRSA) and the Taiwanese International Cooperation and Development Fund have developed a course on integrated management of Citrus Greening Disease, also known as Huanglongbing (HLB). The course aims to develop participants’ technical, biosecurity and relevant technological capacities to manage HLB using an integrated approach and ensure the healthy production of citrus. The meeting will be held in Hanoi, Viet Nam from 18 to 23 September 2017.
The EWG will work on the revision of ISPM 8 following the tasks outlined in the approved Specification 59. The outcomes of the meeting will be presented to the Standards Committee (SC) in May 2018.

Two draft diagnostic protocols (DPs) are currently under the DP notification period:
The DP notification period was opened on 1 July and will close on 15 August. Contracting parties have 45 days to review the draft DPs and submit an objection, if any, along with a technical justification and suggestions for improvement of the approved DP. If no objection is received, the DP is considered adopted by the SC on behalf of the CPM.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has advertised an internship position on Post-Harvest Experiments at IAEA Laboratories in Seibersdorf, Austria. The intern will take part in the fruit fly phytosanitary treatment project. The deadline for application is 11 August 2017.
