Breve descripción

Australia advises trading partners of the addition of three new species to Australia’s List of Trogoderma Species of Biosecurity Concern, as detailed in SPS notification G/SPS/N/AUS/502/Add.21.

This change affects all countries recognised as other-risk countries for khapra beetle who are exporting high-risk or other-risk goods to Australia. It also affects all target-risk countries for khapra beetle who export other-risk goods to Australia.

When conducting export inspections, if evidence of live or dead Trogoderma is found, the certifying NPPO will need to consider the additional three species when identifying whether the species is of biosecurity concern or not. This change will apply to all trading partners. There is no change to the phytosanitary certificate requirements for trading partners subject to the above requirements. The current additional declaration required on a phytosanitary certificate remains unchanged:

“Representative samples were inspected and found free from evidence of any species of Trogoderma (whether live, dead or exuviae) in Australia’s list of Trogoderma species of biosecurity concern”

This SPS notification does not impact target-risk countries exporting high-risk goods to Australia, and the existing requirements and declarations regarding Trogoderma species of biosecurity concern remain unchanged for high-risk goods from target-risk countries. If exporters have further questions about this update, please direct them to email [email protected]
