Mr. Mwambu, is the Commissioner Crop Inspection and Certification at the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), Entebbe. Mr. Mwambu was previously the Project Coordinator of The Uganda Multisectoral Food Security and Nutrition Project (UMFSNP), a World Bank Project (2015-2017), before being appointed as Commissioner. Mr. Mwambu has previously served as the Programme Manager for the Sustainable Land Management (SLM) Programme at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Uganda (2011- 2015).

Mwambu is an entomologist and holds both a BSc and a Master of Science from Makerere University, a Master of Public Administration and Management from Islamic University in Uganda, a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management (UMI), a Post Graduate Diploma in Pesticide Risk Management from the University of Cape Town, South Africa (I/P), a Certificate in Administrative Law of the Law Development Centre, a Certificate in Finance and Accounting for non-Financial Managers of the Uganda Management Institute, a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration from Islamic University In Uganda, and is currently finalizing his PhD in Public Administration and Management of the Uganda Management Institute (UMI).
