Resumen

Within Europe, the virus is already prevalent in Mediterranean areas, in the wild host plant, Nicotiana glauca. A PRA is in preparation to help determine a long term policy against this organism. Our main concern is that there is a small but potential pathway from ornamental plants to peppers (natural infection of pepper has been reported elsewhere), so statutory action will be taken against any further findings pending completion and consideration of the PRA.

Peligro
The first findings of the virus in the UK, and the first findings of the virus in ornamental hosts belonging to the Balsaminaceae, or the Compositae respectively. There is a potential pathway into Capsicum annuum. Natural infection of pepper (Capsicum annuum) has been reported outside Europe. Stocks were destroyed and no further findings were made within one year, so official notices were withdrawn.
