The IPPC Secretariat is pleased to announce the release of the French translation of the study “Assessing and advancing phytosanitary capabilities in targeted countries in Eastern and Southern Africa: a pathway to resilient agriculture”.

This publication presents an overview of the common phytosanitary capacity development needs and priorities identified through the Phytosanitary Capacity Evaluations (PCEs) conducted in 11 Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) countries. In the context of these 11 COMESA countries, the study emphasizes the use of PCE as a strategic tool to assess and strengthen national plant health systems, ultimately contributing to enhanced safer trade in plants and plant products.

The PCEs in these countries, as well as the study, were carried out in the framework of the EU-funded project “Strengthening Food Control and Phytosanitary Capacities and Governance”.
