Standards Committee May 2015 report has been posted!

The Standards Committee (SC) met from 4 to 8 May at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.

The meeting report has been posted today and is available at https://www.ippc.int/en/core-activities/standards-setting/standards-committee/

The SC has approved the following draft ISPMs for member consultation:

  • Revisions to ISPM 15 (Regulation of wood packaging material in international trade), Annex 1 and 2 for the inclusion of the phytosanitary treatment Sulphuryl fluoride fumigation of wood packaging material (2006-010A) and the revision of dielectric heating section in Annex 1 to ISPM 15 (2006-010B)
  • Appendix to ISPM 20 (Arrangements for verification of compliance of consignments by the importing country in the exporting country) (2005-003)
  • Amendments to ISPM 5 (Glossary of phytosanitary terms) (1994-001) (submitted for member consultation in 2016)

A full list of drafts submitted for member consultation from 1st July (including phytosanitary treatments and diagnostic protocols) will be available soon at https://www.ippc.int/en/core-activities/standards-setting/member-consultation-draft-ispms/

The SC has also reviewed the draft ISPM on Determination of host status of fruit to fruit fly (Tephritidae) (2006-031), that was returned for its consideration following the formal objection received before CPM-9 (2014) and the decision taken at CPM-10 (2015), and agreed to submit the draft for the substantial concerns commenting period, with only the paragraphs that had been modified after CPM-10 open for commenting.

Additionally, the SC has approved the specification 62: Requirements for the use of phytosanitary treatments as phytosanitary measures, now available at https://www.ippc.int/en/core-activities/standards-setting/approved-specifications-draft-ispms-under-development/

Finally, leads of Technical Panels provided updates on their work plans and the SC thanked them and their members for their excellent work and contribution to the standard setting process.
