The IPPC Secretariat is pleased to announce the release of two new publications: Field survey guidance for Ralstonia solanacearum and Field survey guidance for Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense Tropical Race 4.

Developed through the IPPC's Africa Phytosanitary Programme (APP), with support from the United States Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA APHIS) in 2023-4, these field survey guides offer step-by-step protocols to assist technical personnel of national plant protection organizations (NPPOs) to conduct surveys for Ralstonia solanacearum, commonly known as bacterial wilt and Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense Tropical Race 4 (TR4) of banana.

The guides, with visuals, are designed to aid in the monitoring, detection, sample collection and diagnosis of the two plant pests, ensuring effective phytosanitary decision-making to manage the pest risk, protect food security and enhance trade in plants and plant products.
