2014 August - Call for Experts (TPDP, TPPT, EWGs)

Nominations are being solicited by the Secretariat of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) for appropriately qualified experts for membership on (i) Technical Panel on Diagnostic Protocols (TPDP) and (ii) Technical Panel on Phytosanitary Treatments (TPPT). Expert nominations are also sought for three Expert Working Groups (EWGs) to develop international standards on (iii) International movement of grain, (iv) Revision of ISPM 6:1997 (Guidelines for surveillance), and (v) Safe handling and disposal of waste with potential pest risk generated during international voyages.

It should be noted that members of Technical Panels serve for a 5-year term.

Call for nomination of members and potential alternate of the Capacity Development Committee (CDC)

The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat is soliciting nominations for appropriately qualified candidates to be members of the IPPC Capacity Development Committee (CDC). At its 7th Session (CPM-7, 2012) the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures agreed to create the IPPC CDC to provide oversight and contribute to the delivery of the IPPC Strategic Objective of developing National Phytosanitary Capacity of its members. Members serve for terms of two years, with a maximum of six years. All IPPC Contact Points and RPPOs contact points are invited to nominate suitable candidates to serve as members of the CDC by 30th September 2014 ...

SPG Invitation and calls for topics (with discussion papers)

An invitation message has been circulated to national contact points for the coming meeting of the IPPC Strategy Planning Group (SPG), to take place on 7-10 October 2014.

See the attached message.

Please pay a special attention to the fact that the SPG meeting this time will have a little different arrangement in terms of the preparation of participants, based on the earlier decision by the Bureau. First, all the participants are requested to present papers in advance on key strategic points, for the visioning exercise “IPPC in 20 years” at the SPG meeting.
