Call for experts: IC Sub-group on Dispute Avoidance and Settlement - DEADLINE EXTENDED

Posted on Tue, 23 Apr 2019, 08:29

Deadline on Fri, 14 Jun 2019, 21:53

The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat is soliciting nominations for experts to take part in the Implementation and Capacity Development Committee (IC) Sub-group on Dispute Avoidance and Settlement.

When considering nominations, please read through the Dispute Avoidance and Settlement IC Sub-group Terms of Reference and IC Sub-groups Rules of Procedure.

Nominations were originally due 19 April 2019. Due to the poor response, the Secretariat has extended the deadline to 14 June 2019.

The call is primarily addressed to Contracting Parties (CPs) and Regional Plant Protection Organizations, but may also be addressed to other targeted industry stakeholder groups.

Initially, this group will meet virtually using e-mail, teleconferencing and other modern communication methods. It may meet face-to-face, subject to the availability of funds. The work of the group takes place in English, therefore experts should have an excellent working knowledge of English.

IPPC Criteria for receiving travel assistance

The organization that employs an IPPC meeting participant is responsible for funding their travel expenses and the daily subsistence allowance. If the employer is unable to allocate sufficient funds, participants are first encouraged to seek assistance from sources other than the IPPC Secretariat. Where demonstrated efforts to secure such assistance have been unsuccessful, requests for assistance (i.e. travel and subsistence costs) may be made to the IPPC Secretariat. IPPC funds to assist attendance at meetings are limited and will be provided based on priority criteria defined in the following document: Exceptions are at the discretion of the IPPC Secretariat.

Dates of meetings

Dates of the meetings will be determined and published on the IPPC Calendar:
