Be the next host of the International Day of Plant Health (IDPH) on 12 May 2026 and help advocate for plant health to decision-makers and the public, while showcasing to the world your unique efforts to protect plants.

The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) is opening a Call for Proposals from NPPOs and RPPOs to co-organize and host the high-level event in their country or region, with the theme “Biosecurity for Food Security”.

This is an opportunity to highlight your NPPO or RPPO’s plant health initiatives on the global stage, boost your country’s national campaign on plant health, and strengthen public trust.

The IDPH high-level event brings together prominent leaders including the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the president or minister of agriculture of the host country, head of the host organization, citizen advocates and local media personality.

The high-level event will be composed of two segments: 1) Keynote speeches from guest speakers, and 2) a talk-show type that encourages a lively conversation among the guest speakers on the IDPH theme and related phytosanitary issues. This event will be held in person in the host country and via Zoom, and will be live webcast.

The 2-hour event is followed by a complementary activity, e.g. field visit, tree-planting, activity with the youth or schoolchildren, or other creative ideas that will showcase plant health efforts or innovation in the country or region. Submitters must provide as many details as possible on the proposed complementary activity.

Organizing this important milestone entails fulfilling the administrative, logistical, financial and communication/promotion requirements to ensure that the event creates a global impact.

For further information on the roles and responsibilities of the host country/organization, please see the Terms of Reference below.
