CPM-20 Side session: Sea containers stocktake to shape CPM-21 recommendations

As the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM) Focus Group on Sea Containers advances toward its final recommendations to CPM-21 (2027), this side session will serve as an opportunity to take stock of progress made by the Focus Group to date. This includes outcomes of the October 2025 Copenhagen symposium on clean containers and safe trade and advancement of a framework of regulatory and non-regulatory measures, including container design, custodial responsibility and revision of the Cargo Transport Units (CTU) Code. The session will include interactive live polling and an open question-and-answer discussion through which IPPC contracting parties and stakeholders will provide input on the uptake and implementation of CPM Recommendation R-06.
Inputs gathered during the session will directly inform the Focus Group's final recommendations to CPM-21 in 2027, on the long-term management of pest risks associated with the sea-container pathway.
