EC: Supporting the Implementation of the IPPC


Supporting the implementation of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) (GCP/GLO/025/EC)

Budget: USD 1,493,730, of which USD 1,079,545 (up to maximum EUR 950,000) as EU contribution) and USD 414,184 as FAO co-funding Start: 2020-01 End: 2022-12

The European Commission is financing this project which supports the engagement of IPPC contracting parties (CPs) from developing and least developed countries in CPM governance and in CPM subsidiary bodies activities. This includes CPs’ engagement in developing key ISPMs is facilitated and promoted as well as the capacity for CPs to understand and implement key ISPMs is supported.

The work in this project is divided into the following three main work packages:

  1. Work package - Participation to IPPC Governing bodies: ensuring participation to CPM and Bureau meetings by developing country participants
  2. Work package - Capacity development: two main actions: production of guidance/training material (develop guides/training material, disseminate and hold workshops, including IPPC regional workshops) and ensuring participation to capacity development meetings (IC and working groups)
  3. Work package - Development of ISPMs Development of ISPMs: ensuring developing country participation to standard setting related meetings (SC, EWG & TPs)
