Current consultation on draft specifications for ISPMs

The Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM) approves new topics for International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM). The Standards Committee (SC) assigns a steward to each topic who, in consultation with the IPPC Secretariat, drafts a specification.

Specifications for ISPMs outline the content and scope of a future ISPM and are used by the expert drafting groups to draft the ISPM.

Once the SC approves the draft specification for consultation, the IPPC Secretariat makes it publicly available and solicits comments through the IPPC Online Comment System (OCS, https://ocs-new.ippc.int/) from contracting parties, RPPOs, national plant protection services of non-CPs, relevant international organizations, and other entities as decided by the SC.

For more information on the OCS, please visit the OCS page on the IPP. Please contact the IPPC Secretariat (IPPC-OCS@fao.org) for assistance using the OCS.

The consultation period lasts from 2 July to 31 August 2018 (as the 1 July falls on a Sunday)

The following draft specification was submitted for consultation:

  1. 2015-004 Use of systems approaches in managing the pest risks associated with the movement of wood commodities

The consultation period is now closed and the compiled comments are posted below.

The IPPC Secretariat invites IPPC Official contact points to review the compiled comments and contact the Secretariat if their comments have not been recorded correctly.

Please note that a document containing the history of previous consultations on draft specifications is available as well, previous versions of draft specifications submitted to consultation are also available.
