Short Description

AQIS has completed a comprehensive revision of its Giant African Snail (GAS)risk management strategies and initiated the trial of the National GAS Country Action List on 1 September 2009. From this date, all containers and non-containerized cargo entering any Australian ports from countries on the National GAS Country Action List will be subject to external GAS inspection. Empty containers arriving from ports on the National GAS Country Action List will also be subject to internal GAS inspection. High risk commodities (in containers and as non-containerized cargo) will still be subject to existing commodity-specific GAS import conditions.
