Short Description

That the Marrakech Agreement established that the World Trade Organisation (WTO), and the Annex Agreements, among them, the“Agreement on the application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures” establish the need of recognising the regionalisation conditions derived form the presence, distribution or no existence of pests. That Chile as signatory member of the Agreement on the application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures must guarantee that its phytosanitary measures are adapted to the region’s phytosanitary characteristics of the origin and destination zones of plant products, whether in the whole country or in part of it. That, for this purpose, the Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG), through the relevant Pest Risk Analyses is authorised to establish Quarantine Pest Lists that are considered to comply with such role and will be part of the phytosanitary regulation that the regulated article must comply with to enter the country.
