Short Description

The NPPO of Ghana has set up a emergency technical response team of experts, put together to follow up on all notifications and recommend corrective action for implementation to address every issue. Key actions include: 1. Verify the Notification 2. Conduct Traceability Investigation 3. Confirm Pest Identity/Problem 4. Undertake Delimiting Survey 5. Implement Emergency Phytosanitary Measures 6. Carry Out Pest Risk Analysis (PRA) 7. Notify Stakeholders 8. Corrective and preventive Actions

The Phytosanitary control systems were strengthened through an improvement in the infrastructure and the capacities of the Inspectors built through trainings and field demonstrations.

Stakeholders (Exporters, importers, producers AEA's etc.) were sensitized on import and export requirements to ensure compliance.
