Summary

The State Plant Protection Service (SPPS) of Latvia informs on the first findings in 2008 of Plum pox virus on Prunus in Latvia.The occurrence of Plum pox virus was officially confirmed at 4 outbreaks in 2 regions-Zemgale and Vidusdaugava. Infection was found in 2 private and 2 commercial gardens of Prunus.The phytosanitary measures were taken in order to eradicate the disease. Infected plants and plants, which crowns touched infected plants, were destroyed.
