Summary

The State Plant Protection Service (SPPS) of Latvia informs on the first finding of the Scirrhia pini Funk & A.K.Parker in Latvia. The SPPS of Latvia has identified an outbreak in the nursery of ornamental plants in the region of Vidusdaugava. The quarantine organism has been detected on 3 varieties of Pinus mugo plants for planting.The phytosanitary measures have been taken in order to eradicate the disease. Contaminated lots of host plants (totally 611 plants) have been destroyed by incineration.The primary investigation has been undertaken in order to find out the possible pathways of the dissemination of the infection. It was not succeed to find out pathways of the spread of infection. The further investigation is continued.
