Short Description

Plant Quarantine and Pesticide Management Center (PQPMC) is a Central Level Organization under Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development. It has also been assigned the role of National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO) of Nepal and the chief of PQPMC is nominated as the Official Contact Point of IPPC and APPPC. The Designated National Authority for Pesticides (DNA-P) for Rotterdam Convention is also served by the Chief of PQPMC. There are 5 sections in the Plant Quarantine and Pesticide Management Center. They are: • National Plant Protection Organization Section • Plant Quarantine Regulation and Monitoring Section • Pesticide Registration and Management Section • Pest Risk Analysis Section • Survey and Surveillance Section There are altogether 15 Quarantine offices under PQPMC. Out of them, three are in Nepal-China border; one is at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu; and remaining 11 are along the Indo-Nepal border.
