Summary

During routine surveillance in 2005, an infestation of Phytophthora lateralis in Chamaecyparis plants was found at a nursery where ornamental plants are grown. Measures for eradication and prevention of spread have been implemented. The source of the infestation was not identified.

Measures for eradication and prevention of spread have been implemented. The source of the infestation was not found in further investigations. Phytophthora lateralis is not listed as a quarantine organism in the EU. In an initial assessment carried out by the Netherlands Plant Protection Service this fungus was considered to be a possible phytosanitary risk. EPPO has carried out a full PRA for this fungus.
