Summary

Ralstonia solanacearum seed contamination was suspected on cutted seeds before sowing. The identification was confirmed mid-June 2015 by ANSES official French laboratory in Angers. The New-Caledonian government decided to consider this pathogen as a quarantine pest and ordered his eradication. An eradication program is in progress: the concerned seed variety will be destroyed; seeds cut after the infected lots will be destroyed and a survey will be done in order to destroy volunteers.

Danger
Ralstonia solanacearum biovar 2, race 3 is a significant pathogen for potato and tomato crops. This pathogen can remain in soil during years, therefore it could prevent any further production.
