Summary

Synchytrium endobioticum (Potato Wart Disease- PWD), is listed as a Quarantine Pest under the First Schedule in the Control of Plants (Plant Importation) Rules. Potato is not a crop grown in Singapore. From 2008 to 2012, a detection survey involving a total of 373 samples of imported potatoes was conducted on imported potatoes. To date, the PWD had not been detected on imported potatoes. The status of Synchytrium endobioticum in Singapore is considered ABSENT: No Pest Record (Confirmed by survey).

A detection survey may be conducted on plants and associated soil of Solanaceae (crops and weeds as possible alternate hosts) for the PWD where possible to further validate the above declaration.
