One location in the Southern area of the UK.
Summary

The pest was identified following notification by the local wildlife trust of plants which were exhibiting unusual symptoms. Candidatus Phytoplasma fragariae was confirmed by sequencing. Trees are estimated to be between 10-15 years old and their origin is unknown.

Danger
Symptoms included yellowing of leaves with necrosis at the edges, thinned out of the foliage and general decline. All plants showing symptoms were destroyed, further testing has been undertaken to establish the extent of the outbreak and further monitoring will be carried out when surrounding trees are in leaf (spring 2015).
