Summary

Outdoor plot of cv Galilee Adami where 120,000 seeds were sown on a plot of 5 ha. Germination was stated to be 40%. Some symptomless flowers were sold to retail before infection was observed and confirmed by laboratory diagnosis. Infection was also seen in some trial varieties.

The infested plot was destroyed by ploughing in and planting of sunflowers prohibited for 10 years due to the long term survival of the pathogen in the soil.

The seed origin and other crops grown from the same seed stock are being followed up to determine the origin of the infection and if any further crops are infected.

Danger
