United States Handling of Dunnage

Publication date
19-04-2005
Description of the mark

Effective April 11, 2005, the US will initiate a new method to mark dunnage for export to meet the requirements of ISPM 15. The US will add the word "DUNNAGE" or "DUN" under the treatment section of the IPPC stamp. This mark will be applied at least every two feet on each piece of wood intended to be used as dunnage. Please note that when receiving compliant packaging material in your country that this mark is only for dunnage. Therefore, if this mark is detected on assembled products, such as crates or pallets, then there could be an issue with the misuse of the material.
