Summary

This is a report on presence of Tuta absoluta the tomato leaf miner in Zambia. The pest was detected in January 2016 in Zambia and is now present.

Danger
T.absoluta infestation can result in 80 - 100 % losses which will have negative impact on food security and economically for farmers in involved in tomato growing in Zambia. This will also affect the numerous middle men such as transporters and retailers who depend on regular availability of tomato from tomato producers.
