Enhancing the quality of new topic proposals for plant health standards and IPPC implementation

IPPC Call for Topics

Registration link is available at: here

Background

Following the decisions made by the Nineteenth session of the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM-19), the Call for Topics will remain open year-round, for a two-year trial period, after which an assessment will be presented to CPM-21 in 2027, to evaluate its effectiveness compared to the previous biennial call.

Topics may include new International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs); new components to existing ISPMs, such as supplements, annexes, appendices, or glossary terms; revisions or amendments to adopted ISPMs; or pests for which a new diagnostic protocol should be developed. Implementation resources, such as new guides, e-learning courses, training kits, videos and revisions to existing IPPC implementation resources can also be proposed. CPM-19 also approved the IPPC Observatory form for submission of survey or study topics. Contracting parties and regional plant protection organizations are encouraged to make their submissions during this call.

Objective

The objective of the webinar is to strengthen the capacity and cooperation of national and regional plant protection organisations (NPPOs and RPPOs) to make quality submissions by enhancing their awareness and understanding of the relevant procedures and requirements. The webinar will demonstrate the Call for Topics process and actions to ensure a high quality of submissions and provide participants an opportunity to ask questions.
