Questions and Answers on ISPM 15 Symbol: submit questions by 29 March 2013 for CPM-8 evening session

The IPPC Secretariat and FAO legal office will jointly host a question and answer session on registration of the ISPM 15 symbol. CPM-8 delegates are encouraged to attend and to submit questions in advance.

ISPM 15 (Regulation of wood packaging material in international trade) was first adopted by the ICPM in March 2002. The ISPM 15 symbol was developed to be used by contracting parties as part of the certification mark for wood packaging material that has been treated according to the procedures described in the standard.

The 8th session of the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM) of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) will be taking place on April 8-12 at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The IPPC Secretariat, a 178 member organization recognized by the World Trade Organization as the international standard setting body for plant health, will host the conference. The IPPC Dispute Settlement System: consultation between EU and SA

On 26 February 2013, the IPPC Secretariat hosted a formal consultation between South Africa and the European Union under the IPPC Dispute Settlement System (DSS) concerning a phytosanitary trade dispute related to Citrus Black Spot. Experts selected for 2 Expert Working Groups (Used Equipment, Seed)

Experts have been selected to take part in two Expert working groups (EGWs) to develop international standards on International movement of seed (2009-003) and International movement of used vehicles, machinery and equipment (2006-004).

Standard Setting side session during CPM-8 (detailed information)

It was agreed that a meeting of cold treatments experts should be organized under the auspices of the Secretariat. This should involve the best experts in the world including experts from National Plant Protection Organizations (NPPOs) some members of the Technical Panel on Phytosanitary Treatments (TPPT) and the Technical Panel on pest free areas and system approaches for fruit flies (TPFF).
