Informal Briefing to Contracting Parties on Moving Forward the IPPC Work Programme during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Throughout the global COVID-19 pandemic, the CPM Bureau and the IPPC Secretariat have been making efforts to advance the IPPC work plan, thus minimizing the impact of plant pests and facilitating the safe trade of plant commodities.

While the fifteenth session of the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM-15) has been postponed until further notice, the CPM Bureau and IPPC Secretariat agreed to organize an informal briefing aims to reach IPPC Contracting Parties and regional plant protection organizations to:

  • Update on delivered activities and outcomes by the IPPC governing and subsidiary bodies and each unit of the IPPC Secretariat during the lockdown period;
  • Discuss the challenges that have arisen in the implementation of the IPPC work plan during the lockdown period;
  • Discuss the next steps that may be taken to sustainably support the IPPC Community and ensure the smooth operation of the IPPC activities.

The meeting will be conducted via Zoom in two sessions:

  1. First session: 18 June 2020 at 9:00 to 11:00 am (Rome time) for the members of APPPC, EPPO and PPPO and their members - in English only.
  2. Second session: 18 June 2020 at 3:30 to 5:30 pm (Rome time) for CAHFSA, CAN, COSAVE, IAPSC, OIRSA, NAPPO, NEPPO and their members - in English, French and Spanish.
