Posted on Tue, 17 Nov 2020, 14:58

Rome, 17 November 2020. Three new Specifications have been approved by the IPPC Standards Committee (SC) during its 37th meeting this week. The newly validated Specifications are:

  • Specification 70: Annex to ISPM 38: Annex 1 - Design and use of systems approaches for phytosanitary certification of seeds (2018-009)

  • Specification 71: Annex to ISPM 37: Criteria for the determination of host status for fruit flies based on available information

  • TP 6: Technical Panel on Commodity Standards (TPCS)

Such Specifications lay the groundwork for the development of International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs) and the way of working for the Technical Panel on Commodity Standards (TPCS).

Meetings to develop international standards for specifications 70 and 71 are planned for 2021, while a meeting for the specification TP6 is planned once the over-arching standard is adopted.
