The IPPC Secretariat is pleased to inform the plant health community of a new publication titled "Field survey guidance for Spodoptera frugiperda."
This practical guide, developed through the IPPC's Africa Phytosanitary Programme (APP), aims to provide phytosanitary officers with a clear protocol for monitoring, detecting, sampling and identifying Spodoptera frugiperda, also known as Fall armyworm (FAW). An invasive plant pest, FAW is among the priority pests that APP-implementing countries are monitoring using advanced scientific methods and digital tools to prevent pest spread and damage to agriculture and trade. This survey guidance includes visuals and trap recommendations. Download it here.
