Posted on Wed, 17 Dec 2025, 12:12

The IPPC Secretariat is pleased to announce the release of the French edition of the study “Phytosanitary Systems and Agricultural Development: Modelling the Impact of Phytosanitary Capacity Evaluations in Africa”, produced under the EU-funded project “Strengthening Food Control and Phytosanitary Capacities and Governance” (GCP/GLO/949/EC).

The study examines the long-term impact of strengthening phytosanitary systems in Africa through the Phytosanitary Capacity Evaluation (PCE) framework. Key findings show that while one-time PCE interventions can deliver short-term gains, sustained investment, repeated interventions, and strong institutional frameworks are essential for lasting improvements in plant health, trade, and rural development.
